The Backbone of The Congo

If you’re a longtime reader of the Conglomerate, then you may not have realized you have been looking at something one of our most valuable editorial board members created. Aubrey Salazar is entering her junior year at Centenary and has been the backbone of our publication since taking over her position as Design Chief. As a new media design major, while also picking up a minor in computer science along the way, this position is right up her alley. Aubrey is responsible for all things relating to our website, the homepage, all the buttons you click to navigate, and even this page you’re reading this article on right now wouldn’t be possible without the work Aubrey does for The Congo.

When she’s not taking her time to work on our website, you surely will see Aubrey around campus as she is very engaged in campus life. This year Aubrey became an RA on campus, dedicating her after-hours to making sure students and the campus is safe and abiding by the campus rules. On top of The Congo, academics, and being an RA Aubrey still finds time to do it all. Coming in her freshman year, Aubrey was a member of our ladies' volleyball team while earning spots on the SCAC Student-Athlete Academic Honor Roll and the 2021 SCAC Fall All-Sportsmanship team while also being named a team captain later that spring! After the season Aubrey decided to join Centenary’s young track and field team and even competed in the first-ever event this year! Aubrey participated in the shot put and discus events this season and helped set a strong foundation for our track and field team for the future.

Aubrey Salazar helps provide foundation and stability in whatever organization she’s a part of and has been invaluable to the Editorial Board this semester. Our website reached record-breaking numbers this year and that couldn’t have started without Aubrey. So, from myself and the rest of the Editorial Board, thank you for everything Aubrey The Congo wouldn’t be the same without the work you do.
