Hello! As the Multimedia Section Editor, I wanted to welcome you to the Conglomerate and thank you for interacting with our page! After a difficult last two years, the Conglomerate is back and better than ever. We are ready to start this semester fresh with the first-ever completely digital issue and its first-ever multimedia section. Here, you can find campus updates, interviews, student spotlights, student photography, and much more. Much of the work featured on this page will be in video format. As we find our groove, we want to help you find yours as well. So, here’s what you can expect from the Spring 2022 semester:

The theater department has a semester full of exciting shows and performances. Beginning on January 13th at 7:00 p.m., in collaboration with Stage Center, the Centenary Theatre Program will be hosting auditions for a production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s beloved musical, The Phantom of the Opera. The performance will take place from March 10th to March 20th at the Marjorie Lyons Playhouse on Campus. The theater hopes to showcase all kinds of student performers including actors, singers, and especially dancers. The directors ask that those interested in joining the cast come to the audition prepared to showcase their specific talents. Rehearsals begin on January 24th. If you cannot wait to be a part of this incredible production, email StageCenterLA@gmail.com for more information.

Following the musical, students can look forward to the continuation of the Production IV class show, which will be an entirely student-run play. Additionally, senior Charlie Roppolo, one of the theater’s most accomplished actors, will be directing a senior-project play later this semester with director Logan Sledge. Details and dates to come for both productions. Students can also look forward to the third annual Writer’s Circle, featuring a series of scenes and short scripts written by students and read on stage by the actors. While not as heavily produced as other performances, this is the perfect opportunity for any Centenary student to submit their work or show up to support talented and developing writers! Dates and times will be announced at a later date.

Also, this semester, Centenary’s French organization, La Légion Lousianaise will be offering an independent study opportunity for students to earn their Trek Community credit. This course will be centered on the importance of Francophone studies, as well as offer chances to work with young French-learning students in Louisiana. For more information, contact President Hannah Jordan at hjordan@my.centenary.edu.

Reflecting Centenary’s commitment to a culturally diverse education, the International Student Ambassadors (ISA) are welcoming seven new foreign exchange students from all over the world! A welcome party is pending, but students can expect more ISA events later in the semester. For now, please reach out and make our new students feel welcome. If you wish to assist them with their transition in any way, contact President Iqra Jatoi at ijatoi@my.centenary.edu.

Last but certainly not least, the Film Society will be hosting a film festival this April, which will display short films written and directed by Centenary’s own. More details about this event as well will be released later but mark your calendars because it is sure to be spectacular.

And that’s a wrap. Go Houlas!
