School Spirit
School spirit plays an important role in unity and pride within our Centenary community. Participating in events and activities represents a shared enthusiasm and commitment that creates both an individual and collective positive school experience; and it’s just plain fun! Through school spirit, students and staff together can make a vibrant and supportive community that promotes individual growth, social engagement, and even academic success.
School Spirit can be shown in numerous different ways such as wearing school colors, participating in theme days for games or homecoming, making posters/banners for events, inviting friends to come along, getting involved on campus, and even chanting along with the cheer team!
The cheer team not only does the coolest stunts and tricks, but they also play a vital part in getting and keeping the crowd engaged. It’s not just glitz, glam and bows; all of the things behind the scenes make bringing it to life all worth it. While we all love and enjoy the uniform and pom poms, what we enjoy most is having the crowd participate in activities alongside us. We love hearing those in the stands chant just as loud as we are, knowing the next day may be voiceless. Hearing our chants get louder with the crowd makes all the practice and last times something we look forward to in the days that follow. I know what you’re thinking—it’s hard right? But no, they are not hard! In fact they are fairly easy and even fun. Some of our favorite cheers for crowd leading include…
Lets Go Centenary, Lets Go! (clap clap)
De-fense (clap clap)
C-C-L-A (clap clap, clap-clap-clap)
Go Gents Go! (clap)
Lad-ies (clap clap)
Get Tough, Gents, Get Tough (clap clap)
School spirit isn't just about showing up—it's about making memories, building friendships, and supporting one another. Every chant, every cheer, and every theme day is a chance to feel more connected. It’s the energy that fills the gym during a game, the excitement that brings classmates closer, and the pride that makes our community thrive. Even beyond the fun and excitement, showing school spirit reflects our commitment to something bigger than ourselves. Together, we create a positive, supportive environment that helps everyone feel like they truly belong at Centenary. So, the next time you get a chance to attend an event, remember we are all in this together. Take a chance and step into the Centenary Community and share your school spirit. Let’s make every moment count!
