In honor of his retirement to the simple life, we would like to present to you 10 reasons why you should vote Dr. Shelburne the 2022 Outstanding Teacher of the Year.

1. In his service to the college, he went above and beyond, sacrificing time and sanity as a teacher, advisor, and mentor. Anyone that can teach 18-year-olds Shakespeare deserves either a commendation or a sympathy card.

2. He wrote a comment on my final paper, and I need him to come back to decipher it.

3. He's a phenom, badass, and walking encyclopedia.

4. By taking one of his classes, you were signing up to learn about drama, gardens, rhetoric, religion, geography, botany, and architecture all in one go.

5. His restaurant, the Red Herring, has some of the best woodworking displays I've ever seen.

6. He tried to teach me Latin conjugation. It didn't take, but I appreciate the effort.

7. I know what a gerund is. I don't want to know what a gerund is, but I do because of Dr. Shelburne.

8. He had the foresight and wisdom to put me in Symbolic Logic instead of College Algebra.

9. He can rock plaid and elbow patches.

10. Anyone that can deliver presents to 7 billion people in one night deserves an award.

(To Dr. Shelburne, enjoy the woods!!)
