22 Things to Do During Summer ‘22
Congrats! If you’re reading this, you’ve made it through finals, and you are done with the 2021-2022 school year! Now it’s time for summer where you have three months to do not school related things, or if you feel self-hatred, more school related things. If you don’t already have summer plans, don’t hesitate to read further in this article to get some ideas flowing in your brain. I’ve compiled 22 things to do this summer so that you can make the most of it and get off the couch maybe once a week.
Start a new hobby! Maybe pick up painting or cross-stitching. You don’t have to be remarkably talented to enjoy learning something!
Maybe pick up a new instrument and even take lessons. As a former trumpet player, I recommend the main character of brass.
Go to a park and enjoy the outside. Maybe have a picnic with your friends at said park.
I am personally a fan of hikes, so maybe find the nearest State or National Park with many trails to show you the beauty of nature.
If you want to be water adjacent, go kayaking with your buddies, or white water rafting!
If you don’t want to hike or kayak, bring a hammock, and relax in the shade provided by your favorite big trees!
Maybe pick up a good book or book series (which you can read while you hammock).
Go to a waterpark! This is a classic one, and there is no age limit for when you can’t go to one anymore, so you can tap into your inner child anytime.
If water slides aren’t your jam, pick up the tanning lotion and mosey on over to the beach with your favorite swimsuit.
Having no school means lots of concentrated free time which also means it’s the perfect opportunity to binge watch a new TV series. Umbrella Academy’s third season is slated to come out this summer, so you could start there.
Soundtrack your summer: make a summer playlist on your favorite music platform and sing your heart out!
If you have the means: travel the world! With COVID restrictions lightening up in different countries, you might have the chance to visit another country that you’ve been fantasizing about. If you’re going on a module this May, break away for an afternoon and pretend to be a local!
Reconnect with your friends from your hometown and see what their lives have been like in the months or years since you’ve seen them.
Go fishing if you’re into that. And if you catch some catfish, fry it up and eat it (don’t skimp on the hush puppies either)!
Have a get together with your friends and make it a cute potluck. You can make it themed if you want to! I like the idea of different types of charcuterie boards.
Go to thrift stores, yard sales, and estate sales! You never know what you’ll find at those, spice up your closet and your home decor!
Take a weekend road trip with your best friend(s)! If you don’t want to pay for a hotel when you take the road trip, go camping.
Go stargazing if you’re not in the big city. Try to point out constellations if you can!
Get a massage and treat yourself to a spa day.
After you do the physical self-care, take care of your mental health, and go to therapy! If you don’t want to go see someone, maybe take up journaling.
After practicing self-care, treat your stomach to some homemade ice cream. I’m talking about the ice cream you made in a Ziploc bag when you were 10.
And lastly, dance like no one is watching in any setting. Even if you’re in the middle of the club or in your pajamas dancing on your kitchen floor.
I hope this list gives you some ideas on how to have a fun-filled summer and gives you ways to make some memories! Remember to relax and rejuvenate yourself because you’ve worked hard and you deserve it. Take advantage of the time given to you and partake in whatever will better you. If you have a summer job, or you are taking a summer class, you can still make the summer fun, and do some of these activities. I hope it’s a good one!
