Organization Highlight: BSU

As the semester ends, our campus is bustling with a variety of events reflecting the vibrant community spirit. One of the standout organizations during this busy time has been the Black Student Union (BSU), which recently concluded its last meeting of the fall semester. This season, BSU organized many engaging activities designed to foster connection, education, and enjoyment among its members.

To kick things off, the group hosted a series of successful fundraisers, including selling refreshing lemonade and tea at home games, which not only provided delicious refreshments but also created an inviting atmosphere for participants. They also held a lively game night featuring UNO, where students gathered to bond over friendly competition and laughter. In the wake of the recent election, BSU organized a thought-provoking movie night, offering a space for discussion and reflection on important social issues. To wrap up the semester, they held a festive kickback filled with music, dancing, and a variety of snacks, celebrating a successful and productive season together.

One of the most unique aspects of BSU meetings is the commitment to education. At the beginning of each meeting, they share intriguing historical facts about influential figures who are often overlooked in mainstream discussions.

BSU has worked diligently to create an inclusive and safe space for Black students while also welcoming allies who support their mission. The organization has become a vital resource for many students searching for community and understanding. Attendees frequently mention how educational and enlightening the meetings are, along with the comfort they find in being surrounded by peers who share similar experiences. For many members, the opportunity to engage in social activities while connecting with others who understand their struggles as young college students is one of the primary reasons they consistently attend BSU meetings. Through these initiatives, BSU not only cultivates a sense of belonging but also empowers its members through education and fellowship.
