The Magnificent Mackenzie Newlan: An EB Feature

Well, gang, we’ve made it to the first issue of the semester. And chances are, whether you’ve been reading along since day one or you only just pulled up our webpage for this issue, you’ve probably seen advertisements from our lovely PR Manager. The one, the only, everyone’s favorite comms major, Mackenzie Newlan.

This article is dedicated to her and the work she put in last semester, so do me a favor and go check out/interact with one of the various social media accounts she’s operated on our behalf after you finish reading. Mackenzie is a communications major who joined the Conglomerate as a writer and PR manager her sophomore year. She has spent that time running genuinely eye-catching advertisements and interactive events on the Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter pages. Every takeover, teaser, and tweet can be attributed to Mackenzie.

You can also thank Mackenzie for the Conglomerate Spotify account. Our Spotify “What We Listened to While Writing” playlists prove that the Conglomerate staff was listening to Kate Bush before it was cool. Overachiever that she is, Mackenzie’s on-campus involvement doesn’t stop at making the Conglomerate look good; she also is an active part of the Centenary Activities Board as their soon-to-be president/benevolent overlord as well as being in LLL, the French language organization on campus which operates French Tables and other cultural enrichment activities.

Off-campus, Mackenzie spends her summers working for the Girl Scouts of America as a kitchen leader for one of their Austin-based summer programs. So yes, dear readers, when you need that girl scout cookie fix but have run out of 12-year-olds to harass, you can go find Mackenzie. But any remaining jokes aside, Mackenzie Newlan is a true friend. She’s a funny, smart, and deeply caring individual, so if you’ve managed to make a friend out of Mackenzie, consider yourself lucky. Here’s to you, Mackenzie, the workaholic we here at the Conglomerate all know and love.
