Season in Review: Love is Blind Season 2
It’s official! All of Love is Blind Season 2 has dropped on Netflix! As I have been part of the group of students mindlessly scrolling through Netflix as Mardi Gras break progressed, it was only a matter of time before I watched the newest season. I must preface this by saying that I may be the worst person ever to watch this show. If there is a scale with “Hopeless Romantic” on one end of it, I am at the absolute opposite end of that scale. I frequently don’t understand many aspects of romance, which should make for an interesting interpretation of the events that occurred this season. With the excessive personal information out of the way, let’s get into the good, bad, and ugly of Love is Blind Season 2.
First off, big spoiler warning! I’m not holding back for this one, so if you wanted to go into season 2 without any spoilers, now is your chance. On that note, let’s get into my thoughts on the drama, the relationships, and the DRAMA that happened this season!
Okay, the first couple I want to focus on is Kyle and Shania. Kyle seems like a cool dude, but Shania rubs me the wrong way. I can be sympathetic towards her hesitation with Kyle due to conflicts about religion. However, she should have been waaaaay more upfront with him. She really strung the dude along, which was not fair to him at all! And, she messed with Natalie and Shayne, just because what? She couldn’t be upfront with Shayne about her feelings? And was suddenly upfront right before he proposed to Natalie? Yikes. I’m feeling like she’s the Jessica of this season, drama-wise!
Next, Deepti and Shake. First of all, she deserved WAY better. If you’ve seen this season, you’ll probably agree. Apparently, what aired was a “watered-down” version of what Shake was like. Yikes. Deepti didn’t deserve any of the stuff he put her through, and I’m so glad she said no. In this house, there is no room for Mr. “Love-Is-Blurry.” This is an anti-Shake zone, where we love and respect women—thank you very much.
Okay, moving on to Sal and Mallory! I really liked this couple at the beginning. I really didn’t think that either one of them was going to say no. So, when my friend called me on the phone right after Sal said no, I was left on quite a cliffhanger for a few hours. Sal was so sweet with his music, and I really wanted them to work out. Alas, that was not the case. While I would have wanted them to work out, I understand why it didn’t, and I wish them both the best.
Speaking of things that I didn’t expect to see—Natalie and Shayne! Okay, from the start I got not great vibes from Shayne. He kind of grew on me as the season progresses, but I was never super trusting of him. As far as the couple goes, I really thought that they were going to stay solid until the end! However, after their fight and what Natalie said, I totally agree with her decision to say no. I wasn’t there and can’t say what happened, but I trust Natalie’s judgment. There is no excuse for saying that kind of stuff to your partner—drunk or not.
On a lighter note, our success stories of this season: Iyanna and Jarette, plus Nick and Danielle! Honestly, I wasn’t sure Nick and Danielle were doing to make it to the end together. They had quite a few disagreements, but I suppose the fact that they ended up tying the knot speaks to their strength as a couple and their ability to work past arguments. Also, Iyanna and Jarette! I really liked this couple from the get-go and was happy to see that they ended up together as well! They both are committed to their marriage and to actively putting effort into their relationship, which works out well for them.
Overall, this was a pretty good season! Two couples said yes, just like last season! In my eyes, no couple will ever compare to Lauren and Cameron, but those are some really high standards. As for the future, I am looking forward to occasionally snooping onto the cast’s social media accounts and seeing what they are up to. To conclude: Deepti deserved better!
