Conglomerate

Dear Reader,

Welcome to Issue 7 of The Conglomerate! We never thought this day would come! Or that, if it did, we would long be another defunct student media organization and a broken website. Our success is palpable in every monthly Squarespace renewal fee!

The upcoming weeks will feature a different version of The Conglomerate than the one you're used to seeing. We will feature three more issues before the end of the school year, for a total of ten issues this semester! Our current publishing schedule is as follows: Issue 8 on April 22nd; Issue 9 on May 6th; and a special concluding Issue 10 on May 20th, featuring coverage of the graduation ceremony, features from our students on modules, and a guide to the incoming first-years. While we plan to remain on our bi-weekly publishing schedule, the numerous Centenary activities planned for April have demanded that we loosen the reins a bit (so to speak).

As we all know, this week has featured the numerous festivities of our annual Centenary Appreciation Week (04/04/22 - 04/09/22)! SGA senator, Caymen Hawkins, goes into detail about the daily events in his article, "A Closer Look at Centenary Appreciation Week," but, at the time of this publication, the week is far from over! Tonight (04/08/22) features the CABchella student music festival and a Cajun Boil, and tomorrow will be BSU's second annual Family Reunion gathering. Like always, the Congo staff will endeavor to cover as many events as possible, as thoroughly as possible. Therefore, the following days will have independent updates of the site, featuring more in-depth coverage of CABchella, the Family Gathering, and the success of Centenary Days for our prospective students. Make sure to follow our Instagram or Twitter accounts (@cconglomerate) for news on the updates!

With the semester and 2021-2022 school year drawing to a close, The Conglomerate would like to focus on highlighting the people and aspects of the Centenary community that have so far been left out. Many current students are legacy members --whether the originating family member is a sibling, parent, or grandparent-- and we have a handful of faculty and staff that are Centenary alumni themselves. If you are or know of an alum that would be interested in writing for The Conglomerate, articles and letters can be sent to us at cconglomerate@gmail.com.

Current students, faculty, and staff are always able to reach us by email or through Engage. While we can't promise to publish every submission we receive, we will always be more than happy to read your work and help you emphasize your voice in the community!

And though we appreciate our legacy, our staff is always looking to the future! Current Centenary students: The Conglomerate is in need of a Design Chief for the 2022-2023 academic year! The position would be responsible for maintaining our lovely website and would be perfect for those with aspirations of web design. The application is displayed on our Engage page.

In the meantime, check out today's Issue 7 articles. Read. Enjoy! And remember to stay with us as we add more to our collection in the following days.

Sincerely,

The Conglomerate Staff
