Remi Miller: 2022-2023’s News and Worldview Editor
There are so many words that I could use to describe Remi Miller, our head of the News and Worldview section. She is assertive, creative, determined, fashionable, driven, passionate, and so much more. She has done a fabulous job guiding the News and Worldview section this year. Remi stayed up to date on what was happening both on campus and in the world. Even before leading this section, she has been one of the most attentive and caring people that I know, constantly advocating for better and achieving quite a few successes along the way (the return of this newspaper being one of them).
Aside from her involvement with The Conglomerate, Remi has held various leadership positions on campus, including being an SGA senator, a Maroon Jacket, and the founder of the Career Closet. Her work with the Career Closet alone reveals exactly the kind of person Remi is. She worked on it tirelessly in order to see it blossom into something that Centenary students are all able to benefit from.
When asked to name a song that reminds her of Remi, Jan Gary said, “probably the song ‘My Lady’s on Fire’ by Ty Segall because Rem’s the type of person to not take crap from anyone and when she sets her mind to something she sees it all the way through . . . and the song is very much so a femme power anthem (in my mind). The song also has a carefree nature towards the end that ties well with her fun spirit.”
When asked to describe Remi to someone who didn’t know her, Jonathan Okereke said, “I’d say she’s the embodiment of chaos, spontaneity, and excitement, all coming together to form a genuine, reliable friend.” When answering the same question, Anna Jane Storms said, “She has this fervent pursuit of justice and bettering the world around her. She’s that type of person who is a little good at everything, annoying I know. Remi can spend one sentence helping you understand gun reform laws and another with an in-depth take on Florence Pugh’s latest red-carpet appearance. She is diplomatic and diligent, with a mischievous sense of humor and impeccable street style! I can’t wait to watch her run the world in a really cute blazer!”
Although Remi will be missed on staff next year, there is no doubt that she will succeed and flourish in what she does after Centenary!
