Shreveport-Bossier Parade Schedule 2025
Mardi Gras break begins for Centenary students after classes on Friday, February 28th, so it may be surprising to learn that parade season begins sooner than that! Here is a list of local parades that are free to attend and celebrate the season.
To start off, take a day trip to Monroe on Saturday, February 15th to attend two parades. The Krewe of Paws Parade will begin at 1 p.m. on the 100 block of Commerce Street and make a loop around on Trenton Street This is its 18th year being run by the nonprofit organization Paws of NE Louisiana. “It’s our biggest fundraiser of the year” they say on their website. Attendance is free, but community support is appreciated and allows them to continue helping animals across North LA.
Hang around Monroe until the Krewe of Janus Parade at 6pm. It will begin in West Monroe at 1118 Natchitoches Street and run a 3.8 mile route ending in Oliver Rd at around 10 p.m. Check out the route map on their website.
Monday, February 17th the Krewe of Harambee Parade will roll from 1 to 3 p.m. It will begin at the Shreveport Municipal Auditorium on 705 Grand Avenue, go down Milam Street, and come back up Texas Street to end right about where it started. Shreveport-Bossier has its very own pet friendly parade that runs in order to support local animal rescues and recovery- the Krewe of Barkus and Meoux! Their parade will roll on Feb. 23 at 2 p.m. in fron of the Louisiana Downs in Bossier City. There will be float and pet costume contests held before the parade at 1pm in the same location. Learn more about their mission on their website.
Saturday, March 1st the Krewe of Gemini Parade will roll from 3 to 7 p.m. It will begin on 600 Clyde Fant Parkway and end on the corner of E. Kings Highway and Preston Street. The final local parade is the Krewe of Highland Parade, which will roll on Sunday, March 2nd at 2 p.m. It will begin at Gilbert Drive and Gregg Avenue and loop around the Highland neighborhood to end where it started. This parade will pass directly by Centenary’s campus, making it a great option for those staying on campus over the break. View the full route on their website.
