Golf Conference Tournament 2023
Our Centenary men's and women's golf team traveled to Kerrville, Texas, to represent us in the SCAC Conference Tournament. The players that qualified were freshmen Kaylee Roberts, Hahn Bridges, Jeff Borchert, sophomore Tyler Jones, juniors Richard Blair and Andrew Bennett, and senior Devan Martin. In this tournament, the men's team played thirty-six holes on the first day and eighteen on the second, while the women’s team played eighteen both days . . .
Quidditch at Centenary?
Forget football because we are getting our quidditch program back! That’s right, students of Centenary, after almost fifteen years, we will be officially getting a coed Centenary Quidditch program. Back in 2009, Centenary hosted a Quidditch Tournament that was free to the public and students . . .
Gents First Home Game
This past weekend on Saturday, February 11th, the Gents Lacrosse team played Cornell College, who are from Mount Vernon, Iowa. This was the Gents' second game of the season, the first being in Arkansas against Hendrix College, with the Gents losing a terrible 22-3 the Wednesday before. After that game, the guys picked their heads up and moved on to prepare for Cornell . . .
What do our Fall Athletes do in the Spring?
As we kick off the spring semester with men and women’s basketball approaching conference as well as swim, let’s review what our fall sports do in the springtime to get ready for their next season. Soccer, men and women, have their WAC class two to three times a week for about one to one and a half hours at a time. The men are on the field one hundred percent of the time working on perfecting their ball skills as well as building teamwork to carry over into their fall season. Although the men do not have assigned gym workouts, many of them are in the weight room multiple times a week preparing for their upcoming season . . .
Men’s World Cup Standings
The 2022 Men’s World Cup kicked off November 20th and will end on December 18th. This World Cup’s groupings and results have been very surprising to say the least. At the very beginning of the tournament, each team goes through the Group stage where they are separated into a group with three other teams and play a round-robin with the two teams at the top advancing to the Round of 16 . . .
New Addition to Ladies Softball Team
Heather Ivey was officially named the Centenary Ladies softball assistant coach this year after volunteering her time and expertise all last season... After being a volunteer for a year, she decided to stay on as a full-time assistant coach because she “enjoyed watching the players grow and gain more knowledge of the game.”
Ladies Soccer Jarvis Game Recap
Last Saturday, the Ladies' Soccer team played against Jarvis Christian College. However, this is not the first time the Ladies have faced off against them. Last fall season they scrimmaged Jarvis and lost 1-0. Later in the spring season, they played again and dominated the game with a final score of 3-0.
Centenary Ladies Soccer 2022 Season
The Centenary Women's Soccer team’s 2022 season is quickly approaching. With their first game on the 20th of August, that does not leave much time for them to prepare. Before the season even started, some of our very own Ladies got hand-picked to play across the Atlantic for the 2022 Beyond Sports Spain Soccer Tour this past summer.
