Growth of the Cheer and Dance Teams
A lot has transpired since the restarting of the Spirit teams, which consists of our dance and cheer teams. It has been active again since the Fall of 2019, starting with recruiting all school year long. Since then, members have come and gone (as well as coaches), but nevertheless the teams have still been having practices and attending on and off-campus events.
Athlete Spotlight: Seth Thomas
Born in Kilgore, Texas, Seth Thomas is in his third year of playing for the Centenary Gent’s basketball team. Swayed by the short distance from home, impressive basketball coaching, and academic accomplishments by the college, Seth settled down at Centenary with great confidence that he would be successful.
E-Sports: EG vs. 100 Thieves
Another month, another great matchup for you all. Evil Geniuses comes in vs. the return of 100 Thieves. On Evil Geniuses, we have Gnar, Jarvan XIII, Orianna, Zeri, and Nautilus vs. 100 Thieves’ Graves, Volibear, Twisted Fate, Jinx, and Tahm Kench.
Baseball Season Starter
In the first 18 games of the season, our Centenary Gents have managed to post a 10-8 record. Currently, the team is on a four-game winning streak that includes impressive wins on the road against Occidental College and a dominant at-home victory against Millsaps.
Softball Season Starter
Thus far in their 2022 season, our Ladies Softball team has completed eleven games--with four of those ending in a win! The team's first game on February 5th was a double-header against Millsaps, played at Millsaps.
Do Sports and Greek Life Mix?
Many people grow up having dreams of playing collegiate sports; later down the line, these same people also learn about joining Greek life, which is very popular amongst first-year college students. Both sports and Greek life offer their own social groups—the opportunity to become a leader, and the chance to develop lifelong skills that can benefit you even after graduation.
